Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began in the field of radio and television reporter for Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981 she started reporting from the White House. In 1988 she became the chief congressional reporter. Mitchell became the the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist, as well as anchor of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist at the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell covered for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Ronald Reagan many times for summits, and to discuss topics such as and the Iran Contra controversy.
